Original Short · 2024

A wanderer, a bicycle, and the open road.

Life Cycle is a short film about leaving the city behind. It’s a ride toward the simple pleasures: wind against your face, sun on your skin, and the boundless beauty of the world around you.

01 — Character Design

First, the wanderer needed a silhouette.

No face, no name. The wanderer was reduced to the essentials. He becomes someone any viewer can step into.

“This short was inspired by the serene feeling of hitting the road and leaving everything behind.”

02 — Styleframes

Six frames map the whole ride.

Drag across each one to move between the hand-drawn foundation and the final color treatment — the composition stays fixed while line, depth and atmosphere come into view.

03 — Animation Behind the Scenes

Animation study

Many animation tests were done to get the wanderer’s journey just right. We even tried animating the wanderer in Photoshop using an old plugin named Anim Dessin (if you know, you know), but in the end, Blender Grease Pencil was our go to.
